| | Re: Fred & I and Davenport Hi Andy,
How did you do with your carving(s)? It must be a good feeling that your good friend was able to sweep the best of show.
Congratulations to both of you. |

| | Re: Fred & I and Davenport Hi Ron T,
I do not know how I did. They only contact the best of show. Hopefully I got some kind of ribbon but you never know.
I only met Fred this year at some carving shows. I got to know him a lot more last weekend with the long drive to Davenport and back. Yes I am really happy for him.

| | Re: Fred & I and Davenport I am sure Andy did very well with his carving - we all had the opportunity to see when he worked on it and it is really good. We are off to Davenport tomorrow morning - Andy, it is 8:29 and I am going to bed to be "fresh" when I get up at 4:00 am. Thanks again everyone, Fred |

| | Re: Fred & I and Davenport I got a fifth place ribbon. I was in against Fred Cogelow and Vic Hood and some other well known carvers so getting a fifth place is good. My sad indian didn't fit in the stereotype of an Indian carving that the other carvers carve. The comments were that it was too smooth and clean looking.
The highlight of the weekend for me was when Fred went up to get his awards for his carvings at the banquet and everyone gave him a standing ovation.

Congrats on the ribbon, but though I'm far from being qualified as a carving judge, I know a good carving when I see one and yours is great. From the comments made to you, it seems to me in my NOT so humble opinion that the " ![001[1]3424](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/001[1]3424.gif) Indian" just didn't fit into what was expected. What? All Indians are not clean? Of course they're not smooth the way they're beaten down and the hard lives they lead, but perhaps this guy was, well, maybe young, like my Mohawk.
Anyway, I think your " ![001[1]3424](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/001[1]3424.gif) Indian" is an inspiration to me. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
