Thank's Bob for those words of encouragement ..I am sorry to hear your daughter is still having nightmares...Yes, I had a sense of calm while I was trying to think what to save.. This has made me think though. I need to get some large plastic boxes to put Curtis' Santas in because I thought I just put them in the bacik seat they might be broken up..and some bubble wrap ..So many things that were treasures to our ancestors would have been gone..but that's not the important things . Lives are what are important..The thing was my Granddaughter lives across the street form me with her family of five and My Grandson Jacob lives in the next field with his family of three.. His Uncle lives across the street form me ..and his Mother lives across the street form him and her Mother and Dad lives in the opposite direction from me so if we all lost photos ,there wouldn't be anyone to have them in the family..
You take care and thanks for the advice..Charlotte

Charlotte, I really hope all goes well down your way....those fires can be so indiscriminate. There is another huge one going up near the Gunflint Trail (16,000 acres) and dozens of folks displaced. News this AM said over 40 structures have been destroyed, but there is also good news that quite a few residences have been saved. We'll pray for all up there and for you as well.

Al

Al, I didn't know about the new fire. I slept late brecause of waking up often and thinking about the flare up near us yesterday.. I am so sorry to hear that.. They were expecting twenty mile an hour winds today and my pond looks almost choppy..That's what makes it so bad.. I have a friend that lives in Marco Island , Fla. and she wrote yesterday that there are 95 fires burning in South Fla. now..She lives on the edge of the Everglades. None the size of the one here but none the less the smoke is bad from them ..She stays packed because of loosing a home to hurricane Andrew and can get out within an hour.. I think I will pack up and stay that way until all this dry weather has ended. Thanks for letting me know Al I appreciated it.. I also thank everyone for all their prayers and concern.. Charlotte

We hope it never happens, but everyone should walk around their home with a camera taking pics of each room and each wall of each room, the pictures will remind you what was where if and when it comes to insurance claims. Another thing is a small utility trailer, loaded with all the necessities and memorbilia.....it can be covered with a tarp and parked in the garage and if an evacuation comes about, hook it up and you are off......there is enough panic at a time like that without having to run around trying to think of what you want to save! And the things you will save in a time like that will seem ridiculous to you later.....we had a fire within a mile or so of us and got the warning to be ready.....so we kind of stood in the middle of the room dumbfounded on what to gather up! Those kind of plans need to be done ahead of time! God bless all here and may the Lord keep you from having to make those decisions! I honestly believe the Lord is trying to speak to America, and it doesn't seem people are listening....we are "like the days of Noah, eating and drinking and marrying" and not paying attention!

Hi Charlotte,
I will keep you in my prayers...... We have never been threatened by fire here but we have had several bad storm seasons in recent years. It is a sick feeling walking through your house with a catagory 4 hurricane bearing down on you, trying to figure out what you might be able to save, and what you know you can't. God bless.

You know Dave, I thought yesterday that maybe I should take some pictures but haven't done it yet..Instead I am getting things out of plastic bags and trying to put things where I can find it if I need it..Like in suitcases etc..because I know that dumfounded look as it happened to me yesterday . I am going to get the bubble wrap and wrap up Curtis Santas today..
About a month ago, my son Harold asked me to stand in every room and photograph every wall.. I thought well , like duhhhhhh.... but he said he was making a DVD and wanted to use Sweetwater for his game.. so I did .. Now though I must print it out to have evidence of the pictures.. No, I don't know how to make a back up dvd on the computer... Yes, I fear that it is becoming s in the days of Noah and we are being warned.. Scary huh...Charlotte

Thank's Susie, Yes, I well remember those day of the hurricanes as I lived in Pensacola, Fla.. I can remember my relatives rushing around boarding up windows and filling up tubs with water etc.. One time my Dad boarded up the windows and didn't have time to board up the transens ..sp at each end of the house and we had boards that were about three inches for ceilings.. ( I don't think they had sheet rock back then) the rain came in and warped the boards downward into v shapes.. It was a new home.. So I knnow your feelings..Charlotte

Miss Charllotte, Taking pictures or even a movie of your processions and explaining what each one is and the cost of replacement which I know old pictures never can be replaced. Serial numbers of appliances. We did just that and burned a cd of for the insurance agent, one for the safe deposit box at the bank and we still have a copy on our Laptops also. God forbid you would every need to use them. Every time we replace an appliance, we burn off another cd and take to him. Tools and everything in the garage and shop, same thing. Takes some time but well worth it.
Our prayers lift you up Miss Charllotte.n

Thank's Kenny, that 's good advice that you and Dave have given.. I just need to take some time and do just that..The fires have eased off in our area as they have moved more east and are now down into Fla. One is burning in the middle of the Swamp and that has given Fireman some relief. My cousin who lives in Pensacola said that Fla . now has a hundred fires burning in that state and one about forty miles from her. I have lived a long time and have never seen anything like this..We thought maybe we would get a little rain today but it has missed us so far.. but I think there is some hope in that the rain that has been in Texas and the midwest ( a slow moving front) will reach us by the first of the week and maybe it will hold out some for us.. Thanks again for your advice.. Charlotte
