Default Ever had an old favorite wear out ?

I had an Old Pfingst motor finally go out on me and I've had my lip hanging out ever since. I'm pretty sure the winding is toast. Wouldn't be the first one I've rewound, but they always look at me like I'm nuts. I've got four other flex shafts. Newer ! Bigger !! Better !!! (That last point is debateable) But I'm gonna miss the old Gal ? I've worn out a few old chisels over time, and poubted for months.

Does anyone else do this or am I getting too attached to my tools ?

I had Continental Airlines destroy an old Zeis Icon Theodalite a few years ago and they almost had to call security.

Sorry for your loss, but there are times for everything to go to the great tool yard in the sky! We do get attached to our favorites, and there is a joy in a well made tool, but when they go, most new ones aren't worth the effort of repairing, unless you know how yourself. If you do, then go for it. No restrictions on how many hobbies you can have, and if repairing tools makes you happy, then do it.

As for airlines breaking your theodolite, that's just down right clumsyness and they needed a good raking!
