well I hope you are wrong, it says it will copy all vhs/dvd to date...but its guaranteed anyway...so if not.....

While CDs and DVDs do have a longer shelf life than VHS, they burned ones are not as long as the "pressed" ones like you buy in the store. They have found that burned DVDs and CDs have a 5-10 year shelf life; the burning process for average people isn't quite up to the standards they use in industry...

? a VHS has a shelf life that long or longer? The oldest tape I had was star wars from the l980's and although you could see the picture , it was pretty rough.....so thats a long life, trouble is a few are reaching that stage!

There was a big thing in the news a few months ago because people were using CD/DVD as achieving tools...and then they couldn't retrieve the info later...

I guess it depends on how often you watch a VHS...from working in the video business, tapes do wear out after being watched a lot, and if your VCR heads are the least bit dirty, they can really damage a tape!
