Default Dooms day and my last supper

Well this morning I go hit the dentists chair Last night I put my poor old choppers to work with a big, juicy T-bone, baked potato, salad and avocado. Ice cream for dessert. Kind of a weird feeling knowing that someone is about to remove a part of your body (in this case teeth) that you've had all your life. Last night I had to take massive does of antibiotics, really messes up the stomach so no breakfast for me. Now the diet begins

Good luck Nancy...I feel for you! I've got a family history of soft teeth...so my day in the chair is coming...

The bad thing is that I've also inherited my dad's resistance to novicane...it doesn't take more novicane to affect me, it just takes longer! Dentists always want to start working on me before it kicks in!

Mental note...find a dentist that uses Nitrous Oxide!!!

Here's a little story that might cheer you up as the anticeptic wears off.....

I was living in Ghana back in the late 60's and the only reputable Dentist in the country was an older German lady practicing outside of Accra, the capital. My tooth was killing me so I made an appointment and, when the time came, settled somewhat apprehensively into what passed as a dental chair. Looking around the office I noted that most of the equipment was similar to what I remembered as a kid in the Jefferson City, MO. dentists office when our family made it's yearly trip for our checkups. When the Frau Dentist finally showed up, poked around my tooth enough to get it good an sensitive for the upcoming work, she grabbed the air-cooled drill and aimed for my mouth. Whhooooooooaaaa there a minute.....what about a shot of that novicane? I was informed that it was on very short supply and that my cavity didn't measure up. Needless to say I just about ripped off those chair arms while that escapee from some Nazi Waffen unit applied that overheated and dull grinder to my molar. Ouch! I can still feel it even though the tooth is gone.

My dad tells the story of a root canal he got in Hong Cong. The nerve was already exposed, and a very patient dentist (who was about a foot and a half shorter than my dad, was trying to inject the novicane right into the nerve. He would get dad comfortable, reach in and just brush the nerve with the needle, dad would jerk, and bend the needle. The dentist patiently replaced the needle, and tried again...15 times later he did a quick stab, got it in the nerve and squirted in just enough that dad didn't feel the next round!

My Dad always joked about he had teeth like stars, they came out at night!
Dentist don't bother me. I just tell them if I feel any pain, they will, too.
Works.

But what I do hate is The dentist has all these tools hanging from your mouth, have both hands and a foot in your mouth, then ask you a question! Geezz, How dumb!

My old Grandad didn't have a tooth in his head and refused to wear his false teeth. I have seen him sit down and eat steak or anything else he wanted and never use his false teeth. He would take a bite out of an apple like I do right now and I've got all my teeth. He could eat anything but nuts.

Nancy, hope everything goes well. You are in my thoughts.
Garon
