Hmmm, sounds like a dog-raising ethics problem.

IMO, smack a dog only with your open hand [immediately] when caught doing something. Smacking him even 2 minutes after the criminal act does no good. The mutt won't remember what he did wrong, so 'why is the boss smacking me?'

Dogs have a lot in common with kids. You have to be firm and consistent, and keep chewables out of their reach.

And I just performed an experiment. I put my WCI with Bob's pic on the cover on the step in front of my rebellious husky crossbreed. He sniffed it, then ignored it. If it isn't kibble or scraps, he couldn't care less.

Maybe I need to read the article to him...
