Good discussion folks. Plenty of food for thought.

Whitecree....not to worry, no plans to leave just yet!

Just lots of things lately making me think about it ..... just want to plan ahead. My library is getting unique and I want to do the right thing, and my tools are too.

Bob- interesting topic-i was thinking about that the other day.
If any of my children or there off-spring are not interested I am considering leaving them to our local carving group for use of anyone that shows some interest but hasn't bought their own tools they can then borrow them till they get their own .

i have told the wife, the first one that can use the tool can have it, i have collected tools all my life, and it would take a dumptruck to haul them all off.

told the wife,
everybody gets a fullset of each, and the leftovers will be sold to take care of the bills.
ought to leave her in pretty good shape if she sells them right.

Hey Bob,

After giving this some more thought , I have decided to .......

TAKE THEM WITH ME!

Can't be heaven without wood to cut and well if I go to hell , they will need chips to keep the fires going !

Luckily I have a niece who is still interested in carving, so she gets first pick - whatever she wants is hers. After that, it all goes to my favorite carving club, and THEY can decide what to do with them (sell, keep, give, loan, etc.) I'm comfortable with that, since the members of the carving club are way closer to me (geographically as well as emotionally)than my family. Carvers are such great people - gotta love 'em!

That's well under control here. My lovely wife is my partner in the shop, and my Best Friend is my partner in the mill. Everything falls on the last man standing, and then to our niece. Quite possibly the smartest, sweetest kid I know. A Wonderful combination of Common Sense, and Heart !

, for your post. Sometimes I forget just how Fortunate I am.

We recently lost a member of our carving club and his family brought all of his tools and supplies to the monthly meeting. The tools and supplies were all sold to the members who will use and care for them. The family donated all of his extra carving wood to the club as none of them were carvers. This was a win win situation in that the family found people that were willing to help take some of their fathers belongings for a fair price and the carving club members got monentos from a friend that they can use in their carvings. That might be the route that I take, hopefully quite a few years from now.

Ummmm, Nancy, I would call you grandma, too, if it would get me in your will. I've seen your tools, toys, and collections and they are way too cool. But, on second thought, I'd rather just call you "friend" and hope you live longer than me so that you enjoy them for many, many years.

What an interesting thread, I have to admit, in the five and a half years I have been carving I acquired a lot of tools and carving supplies. In my lifetime I have acquired a ton of things, sewing, needlepoint, drawing, ceramics.....WOW, now that I think about it, I really should start sorting though and cleaning out some stuff. Of course, it would be all the other stuff EXCEPT for the carving things....I NEED them...right up till the last minute, I HOPE!!

Dang it, big brother, you beat me to hitting Bob up but you're out of luck with Nancy....all I have to do it HINT that the hubby might want to carve and she'd been Overnighting stuff to him in a second....got that right, don't I Nancy?

Seriously, I think my oldest son and/or my oldest grandson would want all my carving tools. Guess it's something I should talk to them about, thanks for bringing this topic up, Bob, it's a good one! Deborah
