| | Didn't make it to Topeka The title sums it up but the excuse is, This old fat man took a header lastnight and landed all 300 pounds on my right side on the sidewalk. Stiff and sore but may son, the paramedic, checked me out and said not broken bones but sure did bruse up the right side. Woke up at 5:30 this morning and had a little trouble getting out of bed, Stff and sore. Didn't think I wanted to drive or ride 3 hours one way and then try to get out of the truck and walk and stand for a few hours and then drive back. There is always next year.
I will wait on Xsailer to let me know how it was.
Sorry Bob for not makeing it and visiting with ya. |

| | Re: Didn't make it to Topeka Kenny my friend really sorry to hear of your fall and hope you are not hurting too bad. I did a similar thing this year. I got out of my truck and was walking up to take my place in line at the bank that was opening in 10 minutes, tripped over the curb did a couple of rolls and landed face up looking up at all the people. I was really hurting bad but I dragged my self off of the concrete and red faced told everyone I was ok. Took me about a week before I could move enough to go out.

| | Re: Didn't make it to Topeka KennyS,
I hate to tell you but the show was pretty good. I haven't been before this year so I can't compare previous years but if it is in the growing stages then next year they may want to consider moving to larger quarters. All of the available space was taken and combined with the public it was a very cozy display area. Of course the cozyness of it made it a personal show experience. It was nice to meet some display folks from my area, Valley Center for one. I'm going to have to go to their meetings and meet some of the fine talent in the Wichita area. Of course bought several tools..........WELL SURE I NEEDED THEM. A couple of them are locally made fishtail palm tools. I heard from several folks there that they had used theirs for twenty years and still are. I'm pretty sure they weren't ringers(just kidding). Got two for twenty. Also got two new design tools Denny made, 3/4" #3 back bent and a #11 long bent veiner. A wood vendor from Mn. had any size of basswood and several other kinds Cherry,Butternut. Of course I had to help him out also in his costs to come to the show.
300 POUNDS to the deck? You have got to quit taking your wife everwhere you go(200+100=ouch)! Sorry about your fall and not getting together. |

| | Re: Didn't make it to Topeka OUCH! Kenny, I'm awfully glad that you bounced instead of broke.......and get better quickly. Seems like a lot of carvers are coming up on the injured list this year. Maybe 2007 will be kinder to us.
