| | Did you ever wake up with..... Did you ever wake up with an idea bouncing around in your brain and couldn't go back to sleep until you did something about it? I started this poem a month back but never really got it much further along than a rough idea on paper. Then this morning, out of a sound sleep, I find rhyme floating across my eyeballs.
The thing about this forum is that it often brings to mind things other than carving. I guess that's what got my brain over-worked this morning. Anyway, I thought that I would share it. The Carver’s Life Sitting on a log, beneath a tree, Thinking in earnest, of how life use to be. With gouge in hand, and an old piece of wood, Absent-mindedly he carved, feeling misunderstood. His mind wandered back, to as a young man. Days long gone by, when his life just began. Where had time gone? The years just flew by. So much had happened, he thought with a sigh! Not an easy journey, on his way to old age; Could his life have been different? An idea hard to gauge. He relished the good. He pondered the bad. Overall he was satisfied with that life that he had. So like the wood that he carved, it’s imperfections unseen, Was the road that he traveled, like all God’s beings. by The Wanabee Poet

| | Re: Did you ever wake up with..... Well done. You did the right thing by capturing it immediately. I always feel that there are reasons why we do things like that, and down the road it will come clear. I like the poem, and can relate to it!
Thanks for sharing it with us.

"There once was a man from Quinnesec........"
But alas, what rhymes with Quinnesec? The spark went out and there I sat, pondering the other intricasies of life!
Sure glad you got that one down before the spark faded, Eddy! Nice poem.

| | Re: Did you ever wake up with..... Hey Eddy, Me thinks you need to change the authors line. Me thinks you've crossed over from "The Wanabee Poet" to Poet. I liked it! It captures a lot of what a lot of us feel....Don't quit now. Thanks for sharing. Tom H | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
