I'll be going to the Dayton Ohio show for the first time in a couple of weeks. I'm not an exhibitor, but am just going to look at what I'm sure will be great wood carvings and a great show. I'm wondering about what hotel to stay in. Is there one that is sort of a central meeting place for carvers? Since I'm not exhibiting, I'm assuming that I don't have to register, but that I can just show up. Is that correct? Is there a charge to get in? |

Dan, Don't know about the hotel and central place to meet with the carvers, but there are plenty of hotels close by. There ia a charge at the door but it is not much. I received a flyer from Don Mertz on hotels and such. I will try to send them to you in a PM. Mark Last edited by Mark Dellinger; 10-28-2011 at 10:30 PM. |

Dan I have never stayed over even though I should as I am there all day and have a 4-5 hr drive both ways but if you go to dayton woodcarvers website there is a section on the right at the bottom marked motels and restaurants when you get to the Artistry in Wood ad. Not sure on availability but they do list the phone numbers adn give you a general map. Hope that helps. Good luck and maybe I will run into you there on Saturday. |

If you do a web search for "Artistry In Wood" it will bring up a link to the Dayton carvers site. There is a link on the right side of the page for Hotels. Several places on Miller Lane, just a couple exits South on 75 from the Expo Center. Have fun and see you there!

Thanks all! I actually have the info from the Dayton carvers site, so I'm really all set on the basic info. I was just thinking that, over the years, one of the hotels might have become an informal "carvers choice". Some hotels have a nice large lobby or place where it's possible for a dozen or so people to sit around in the evening and have a beverage or two and get to know each other - some don't. I guess I was looking for that kind of "behind-the-scenes" info. Thanks for your help, and I'll see you there.
