Still cleaning! No carving, no drawing, no painting, just cleaning for the last three weeks. I have moved from the storage studio into the working wood shop. This has turned into one of those epic life changing ... I'm rooting through everything ... cleaning sessions. Now this morning I realize that our evolutionary ancestors, the pack rat, came in two varieties ... Ah, Yes, Grasshopper, there are two types of pack rat humans. The first set collects, stores, and hoards things that they will eventually USE. The second set, the one that I believe to be the mutant pack rat human, collects, stores and hoards things just for the joy of collecting them ... They never intend to actually use them ????? Now oddly I also realized this morning that user pack rats often marry collector pack rats and that is the root of many pack rat battles ... "What do you mean I can't use that -fill in the blank- because you're saving it??? Saving it for what, I ask??? AHHHHHH!" Perhaps User pack rats marry Collector pack rats because they were under the impression, from the Collector, that the User would actually be allowed to use their hoard ... joint bank accounts, both names of the deed, shared credit cards, two sets of keys to the same car ... Seemed rational at the time. I understand the theory of "He who dies with the most wood working - wood carving tools win!" but when I die it will be with the largest ever on this earth collection of HARD USED tools! Susan (Ahhh! He's pickin' through the garbage can pulling out the cracked screw drivers because they once belonged to Great Uncle -fill in that blank - Thank Heaven they make garbage bags in opaque black!) |

Does that count for wood too? Because I've got some nice purple heart that I can't bear to use because then it will be gone <grin> Bob |

AH! Spit on the sidewalk, turn around three times and cross my heart ... I knew you had to have mutant genes ... Anyone courageous enought to become the Supreme Leader of this odd band on knife welding loonies would just have too! ![]() Susan |

Just because my parents are noble-prize winning geneticists who mapped out the human genome years before it became public...I'm sure they had the best of intentions when they spliced genes together to give me the IQ of Einstein, the sense of humor of Dennis Leary, and the artistic talent of Picasso... Those are designer genes <grin> Bob |

Dad gum Darwinism anyway, I thought I was just being economical. I thought it was the long trip to the art store (55 miles) that kept me using those old paint brushes and saving my new ones. Is it possible that I am a collector!!!

| For years I have collected old woodworking hand tools.I have one and two man saws hanging on the walls along with draw knives planes and such. I wonder what people will say when I'm gone and they see all this dangerously sharp objects in the posseeion of a guy that can't see his hand in front of his face. I don't know which type of pack rat I am. But I plan on not changing.
