Default Darwin Awards 2006

So, my sister had a very busy night sending me Forwards and I have had a busy morning picking out the best for you.

2006 Darwin Award Winners:

After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harareto Bulawayohad escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer: $15.
(If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?)

OK ... I'm out of here and off to do something destructive ... wood carving!

Susan

Reminds me of the quotation:

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning. -- Rich Cook

Just to a hair-splitter, isn't a Darwin Award winner one who removes him/herself from the gene pool through their own stupidity? Like the fella that strapped a jato (jet assisted take off) unit to his old chevy, lit it up and smeared himself into a cliff.

It's not a hair splitter at all WhiteCree ... it's just that when ever I tried to type it out I got laughing too hard.

So 'Copy' - 'Paste'.

Here is the glorious Winner:
>
1. When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during holdup in Long Beach, California, would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.
