I carve crayfish, mostly for habitat on other fish carvings, but I ain't about to do 20 for ornaments. Takes me about 10 hours to get one done. Originally I used a pattern from Ed Wallicki's book of fish carving patterns, but have since adapted my own patterns. The Crayfish patterns are no longer in Ed's book, at least the last publication I checked.

If you want, I'll send you the pattern, and you can see if you can cut the production time down.

Just as a matter of information, the body and each claw are carved separately and glued together after cutting insertion slots. Legs and antennae are made from brass rod and tubing bent to shape and inserted. I use small glass pinheads for eyes.
