I do beleive you have been taking lessons from Harold Enlow. Great stories! The Master would be proud!

Beat you by 4 years, Rick -- We moved into town in '58 and got running water, a flush toilet, an *gasp* electric furnace and kitchen range.

At the risk of soundng too nostalgic, I do miss splitting cedar for kindling.

But I don't miss waking up in a freezing house with ice on the inside of the windows.
Then walking barefoot across the cold wood floor in the dark to start up the cook stove.
I suppose if we had electricity, we could have had a heater.

Nobody ever had to remind me to bring in kindling and wood before dark.

I sure do appreciate a furnace that comes on all by itself.
