This past week my wife and I were on vacation and decided to take a little road trip south. We stopped at an antique store in Pine AZ; a nice place with lots to look at. As I was rooting around, a picture caught my eye. It was of an Indian maiden, resting in a tipi. I looked a bit closer to read the small typewritten tag, Lo and behold it read "Keeoma, by Charles M. Russell". Well; I immediately thought of our Keoma, and that maybe this was how she came upon her name. I checked with Keoma, and indeed, she was named after this painting. It also turns out Keeoma was Russell's wife. Anyone interested in viewing this very cool painting can just Google above title. Enjoy! Jim |
