Default Carving practices end up in kitchen....

besides wood chips, I've taken something else to the kitchen....my safety glasses! I wear contacts and find the safety glasses protect my eyes quite well from the dust....so the other day when I started peeling potatoes I thought, wait a minute, somehow, while peeling I more often than not, end up spraying potato (hmmmm, juice??!!) into my eyes. It's a nasty, starchy thing and immediately has to be washed off the contacts or major irritation develops. So, brainstorm, I went back in the carving room and grabbed my safety glasses.

I'm happily peeling away when I hear the hubby cracking up in the living room (from which he can see me) and yes, he was laughing at me. I admit, me standing at the sink, peeling potatoes with safety glasses on was pretty comical! BUT, when I took them off, there were starchy splashes on them....that didn't stop hubby from laughing though!!! Deborah

Good for you. Dress for comfort, not for style.

If you really want to make him laugh, slip them on just before you kiss him goodnight!

If you can't laugh at each other, it would be a sad place to live! I have so much fun making my wife laugh at me! LOL

Good one!

My wife looks at me funny when I wear my leather carving apron while frying bacon. I have the last laugh though, by not having to deal with those little specs of grease that would invariably wind up on my shirts...

Husbands love to laugh, Treewizard?....well....I certainly give mine plenty of opportunities! Susan, I forgot about the ear plugs, I wear them when I run the Salad Shooter....that thing is SO noisy!! Scooter, that is a hoot, do you get wood chips in the bacon and eggs??? That wouldn't work for me....that great bacon smell would linger on the leather and I'd be hungry every time I put it on and tried to carve! Deborah

You know, I realized a long time ago that I only have two eyes and two ears, so every pair of glasses I own is safety glass, and always wear them. Whenever doing things with loud noises, I wear hearing protection. Mowing the yard, weedeating, working with table saw, drill press, etc. Lots of strange looks, but, you know, I still see and hear real good.........

That's great. Swimmers goggles will prevent crying while peeling onions!!
