| | Carving a Finger Hey guys!! I think this is proof that even pro carvers make mistakes. Last friday I was attaching a " round Excaliber chainsaw blade onto my grinder and while tightening the nut my wrench slipped off and my hand slid across the blade. Well, seven stitches and two days later while actually using blade and grinder, my thumb hit the blade. Now, I discovered that you really have to have a good frame of mind to shut off the grinder, yell bad words, all at the same time while trying to take off the leather glove and going to urgent care for more stitches(5 more). Not to mention the embarrassement of seeing the same Doctor twice in one weekend. Now, I haven't had anything like this happen to me in the twenty eight years that I've been carving. I figured that things like this come in three's so I got rid of the Excaliber before I ended up cutting off something that I might need later. So, how was your weekend? |

My wife and I will be flying to Rhode Island. My daughter is expecting her second baby (after ten years), she & my son-law live on the Marine Corp base on an island off Road Island. I want see what kind of duty Marines have there and wonder why I didn't get any soft duty while I was a Jarhed. Of course after two tours in Iraq, I guess her deserves it.

| | Re: Carving a Finger Ouch! Falconer....... step away from the tool and leave it alone! It's hex'ed! You don't want to take any more chances. Yes, things do happen in threes, and you don't want number three to happen with that kind of a tool!
I hope things heal up nice and clean and quickly, but it sounds like you may need a rest, so take the time and rest up.
