| I agree with everything said here...except one.....maybe because I have not been carving for long. But I can't seem to be able to give away my carvings....I have even made A few pieces on request and can't seem to let them go either(not that there any good). There like my kids.....I love to get up in the middle of the night and take one out and smell it and feel it(am i sick?). Is it because what would take my sensei GENE to do in one hour takes me days? Maybe because I have never done the same piece twice? Not sure why but is it normal? I'm the only one that knows how much of my time and heart I put into them all........like I stated there like my kids.... Sorry more ranting............ Other reasons: 1. When kids get to see their parents/grandparents being creative, it encourages them to do the same. 2. Making family heirlooms such Christmas ornaments 3. It's great therapy and stress relief 4. No longer spend money buying decorations for the house, would rather make them myself 5. Making something from nothing is so fulfilling |

SimplyMe, You're not alone! There are pieces I also won't part with because they are too sentimental. I've given away and sold pieces too, some were hard to give away, but at the same time, made me feel good knowing someone wanted it. |

Really enjoying this thread, thought I might be alone in my feelings for carving. Great postings, I know its good cause I like it.

I am in complete agreement with all of this.... We can go ahead with plans to make a worldwide carving holiday.
