Default Carbon Offsets

This Global Warming concern is really having an affect on my work. I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of how many Carbon Offsets I need to purchase to counter my electrical activities down in the shop? It's getting to the point that I'm afraid of turning on the bandsaw for fear of contributing to the flooding some seaside village in Western Samoa! What about my Dremel? My Fordum? It's getting to the point that I can't even reach for Old Reliable anymore without a lingering feeling of guilt. I need help!

I want to make the AACWWDGACWOTBJDITHF a carbon neutral organization!!!

I knew the edge tool advocates would prevail! Cheers Mike
Oh and by the way Lynn, if you'd stop using so much BLO, we wouldn't have those vapors melting the glaciers in the Himalayas.

Can’t help you on the carbon offsets but I recently read an article stating that if you run all your small power tools, that have the reverse option, in reverse creating a negative effect this may help to reduce the general effects of the home workshop on global warming. You also need to rewire all your large equipment to run in the opposite direction, don’t forget to put your blade on backward and stand on the opposite side. (not advised on the dust collection system though) If we all work together we can do this, "woodworkers united against global warming"

With all the politicians talking and blowing their horns, that has to attribute a lot more to global warming than anything else. Ask good ole Al about his carbon footprint.

Are you talking about THIS Al?????? I've figured out that if I increase my intake of "Beano", I can reduce my flatulent emmision of Methane to near ZERO. That alone should buy me enought carbon credits to run all my power tools, offset any number of trees that need be cut to satisfy my carving cravings, and make Karen REALLY happy!

This will probably put me out of contention in some of the beer drinking, taco eating circles, but hey, a guy's gotta do his part, right?

Al

A lot of years ago, more than I want to admit, I read an article in Mechanix Illustrated (is it still around?) about a methane powered Mo-ped. It seems this inventor, having breathed too much gaseous vapor, decided to hook himself to his Mo-ped with a piece of Tygon tubing (clinical details omitted), and ripped his way to work. He actually applied for a patent on this idea, and that's how it made the magazine. Moderator, this really belongs here in off-topic, or off- the-wall. Mike
