Hey all, just before Christmas someone "borrowed" my camera when I left it on the seat of my truck to run a quick errand. So now I am in the market for one. Does anyone have any experience with the Sony Cyber Shot. In the adds it states it can take close ups as near as a half inch. If thats true it would be great for taking pictures of my carvings. Any info would be helpful.

Hi Harold I have owned a Cybershot in the past and had no trouble from it whatsoever. I can't remember the model but it was a 3.2 Megapixel camera. This was about 5 or 6 years ago. The newer cameras are so much more advanced now almost any name brand camera would be good and Sony is a great camera. Larry |

I'm using a KODAK EasyShare C190. 12Mp. Seems entirely adequate for all the kinds of pictures that you may have seen me post here.

I have the Cyber Shot 14.1 mega pixels with the Carl Zeiss lens. The pictures are as good as any I've seen from a digital camera. I still can't beat the pictures on my old Canon FTB 35mm.

All of the new cameras are good. I like the Panasinic Lumix cameras. Just find one that fits your budget.

Harold, I also have a CyberShot and love it. As Larry said, almost any of the new digital cameras will do and you don't have to go as close as 1/2" to get great close-ups of you carvings.

Hi Harold as previously stated most modern digital compact cameras will take great photos in close up mode but if you really want to get in close then think about a slr camera ,I know it might cost a little more but believe me the images you get are very much better and you will have the options of using a real close up lens giving you life size (or larger)images. Dont dismiss pre used ,given a choice of a new compact or a pre used SLR I know which I would go for .hope this helps Bob
