Default Boiler's broke!

Our boiler broke down last night and the immersion water heater (which hasn't been used in years) doesn't seem to be working either.

It's bloody freezing in here!

I'm about to go bake some ginger cake as an excuse to have the oven on Wink

I feel for you, that really sucks. We had that happen to us last January on one of the coldest days of the year. Thank God we were able to stay with friends and family, it took three days to get repaired. Keep thinking warm thoughts!

Unhappy Re: Boiler's broke!

I know how you feel Grim, last winter when we got to the coldest it was -43 F we had one of our pipes that carry the hot water from the woodstove freeze and then when the heat came on it unthawed, well we had about 300 gallons of 180 degree water pour out inside of the house. It was like a sauna at first then it got cold. Good luck getting yours fixed, we used an electric heater for the night.

Hey Grim! Cold's relative! Do us a favor and modify your profile so that you at least show us a general location! I'm in Florida and it's 59 out and I've got my flannel shirt on and I'm cold! See what I mean! Brrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boiler dude came this morning, the PCB is broken so it doesn't sense the flame coming on and cuts out. He's going to try and get a new pcb for us today. Here's hoping!

No joy, nothing can be done until Thursday. They are going to supply some temporary heaters and get a plumber out to have a look at the immersion so we at least have hot water until then but it's going to be an expensive couple of days. Good job we're ahead with our electric bill!
