Default Back from a weekend at a show

I attended my first real show this weekend (not a fair show). It was the Ramona Country Carvers show, Caifornia Carvers Guild. I had a blast and spent way too much money!!!! So much good stuff like wood, tools and books. It was a huge show. Many entries from excellent carvers. Some of the competition was people I saw in Chip Chats.

All the entries were shut up in one room with the judges. About five hours later it was announced that exhibitors could pick up thier carvings, the judging was finished. When I got to the room I couldn't find mine and was told they had been taken to the first place table in the main room. What a surprise!

I guess this show will the highlight of my entire life. I entered my Warthog and the dodo caricature. Both recieved 1st.

I took a look at them up there then noticed a Best Of Show trophy next to a stylized carving and asked a judge that was standing there if that was the big winner. He said that wasn't being told yet. I went back to wandering around and heard my name announced to come to the center of the room. Well I thought I'd won a raffle prize or something. Anyway, the very judge that I had asked came up and handed me a little ribbon/pin and said "Congratulations, it was an honor to jusge your work". I said" Well thanks, but what is this for?" , and he said you have won BEST OF SHOW !!!!!! Yiks! Thought I was going to croak right there. Then all these people from newspapers etc. are wanting photos and interviews and all kinds of things going on around me. I am not an emotional type but it was a bit too much for me, really thought I was going to pass out! Anyway, sorry for the long story but I still don't believe it. Guess ya had to be there Oh, it was the Warthog that won. I was told all this stuff by the judges, compliments that are almost embarrassing, so I won't tell you guys

I start a judges apprentiseship in May too Can't spell either.

I just had to post again and ask Nancy to do something. I went and looked at her profile and I think if Nancy doesn't do this on her own, WCI may have to step in and remind her to update the time that she has been carving. Surely it's been more then a year. Time to come clean with us! You know I'm just kidding, I'm just amazed with your talent.
