| | Attention Scouters and All I know there are several Boy Scout leaders on the board and I just thought prayers for the Family of those four who were killed at the Sioux City Iowa Scout Camp during a tornado and those 30 + injuried during the same time.
My heart and prayers go out to them. |

| | Re: Attention Scouters and All I'm a scout leader in Costa Rica. I hadn't heard of the tornado in Iowa. Where could I read about it? My mom and dad went through tornadoes in Kansas and Oklahoma. My maternal grandmother died in one. |

| | Re: Attention Scouters and All As a Scout leader who was a camp director when tornados and other severe weather hit camp, my heart goes out to all involved in this tragic incident. Our prayers will be forthcoming for the Scouts and their families. And please include special prayers for those young staff members who may feel somewhat responsible for the tradgedy. There was absolutely nothing they could have done, but knowing how seriously these youngsters take their leadership positions, I know how difficult it is for them to separate their feelings from the actuality of the storm.
For those of you unfamiliar with Scout camps, the majority of the staff are young men and women between the ages of 14 and 18. All skilled and highly trained youingsters, but these incidents are difficult to deal with, even for the professional Scouters who guide these staffers.

| | Re: Attention Scouters and All As a scout leader for 15 years and stil work with Scouters, and been in situation like they were I understand what they went through. No amount of words can or will ease their sufferings of the lose they received. I first heard about it from a close Scout friend from Lincoln Nebraska and started running the channels on TV to hear what I could.
Thank you all for your prayers and concerns.
God Give these young men strength to carry on. |

| | Re: Attention Scouters and All I'm sure all prayers are appreciated for these fine young men, and will continue to pray for healing for the families and friends. My grand son got into scoutin a couple of years ago and I have tried to give him guidance with his projects. My daughter called this morning and one of the young men that died was a member of her church. (she is a scout leader for the younger boys) and very upset. Thanks for all the prayers for injured, leaders, parents and friends.

| | Re: Attention Scouters and All I was especially touched by the scout leadership in adressing this tragic situation when refering to the affected families and how the scouting community was going to be right beside them in healing the wounds together. It's just one of those things that happens ever so often with tragic results and can't be prevented no matter how prepared we are... and it appears that these scouts were as prepared as was possible. Tornados are just so quick hitting with such little warning.
At some point you just have to put it all in God's hands, have faith, and continue living a full life. Our prayers are with the directly affected families and all of those surviving scouts who have been scarred by this event for the rest of their lives. |

| | Re: Attention Scouters and All As a father of a Life Scout I was very saddened by the loss of life, and the injuries at the leader camp. As a Scout leader I was also very proud of the composure and compassion displayed by the Scouts that were interviewed on the media. They all were fine examples of what Scouting is all about.
This past week we had three Scouts from our Troop that were taking similar training, though in Georgia. I truly believe that the values and skills Scouting teaches went a long way towards minimizing the death and injuries in Iowa.
My God Bless and comfort all the families and Scouts who have been through this terrible event. I know they will all find peace in Gods presence in their lives.
