I wanted something which would remind who ever bought it what it was purchased for , and would represent a blessing to the purchaser. One thing that is often presented by the Amish that is eaisly found are the "Hex" signs. The signs are found on barns , houses , and in home of the Amish people.

Anyway I should finish the carving today and the finish tomorrow. This is the Hex sign of the Tree of life a strong symbol of an old blessing of Family , Home and life.

Ash, nice job! I really liked the way the finish turned out. Good contrast.

Nice Santa Goody and also the bag and note is a nice touch.. Ashbys, that's a very lovely plate and the inscription is surely an added interrest .. Also like the colored ring around the plate.. adds that extra touch of softness.. Sense I don't have anything carved up, and am so slow to carve , I will send a check to the address on the board.. Thanks for posting it...Charlotte

Thanks,
I posted the final version with a description of the symbols into the Galleries. The tree of life has a great many symbols to it.
