| | America's Bravest I am sad to have to post this, but I think it's our duties as citizens to be aware of the bravery of some of our men and women of Public Safety.Tuesday June 18,2007 their was 9 firemen killed in the line of duty in Charleston,South Carolina.I am posting this as a awareness as to the chances our men and women of Public Safety go through every day.Our prayers and hopefully yours is with their Families, wives, children and fellow fighters in Charleston,SC.I hope this message is recieved with approval from the editors of this fine magazine.I know this has nothing to do with woodcarving, but I felt this is a subject that all people should be aware of.So from the bottom of our hearts in my household we say thank you to each and every person who protects our well being in our community. |

| | Re: America's Bravest Same here! I watched the chief on television this evening and he was so broken up he could hardly talk. By the time the news segment was over I had tears running down my face. I can only imagine the pain that those fire fighter's colleague's, friends and family are feeling!

| | Re: America's Bravest Truly a terrible loss. So many put themselves at risk to help or protect life, limb and property and we can never thank them enough.
I'll never forget that on 9/11 when I finally got home about 1pm there was a call from a friend of our family who knew I worked in Tower 1 to see if I was alright. Meanwhile her husband (Ken Kumple) had perished in the collapse of Tower 1. He was just getting off duty when the plane hit my tower and stayed on to help the responders.
I worked on the North side of Tower 1 97th floor for Marsh and was late - which saved my life. Singing and playing (guitar) for Ken's memorial service at our church was one of the toughest things I have ever had to do.
All these brave men and women who place their lives on the line to serve whether armed forces, or firefighters, police, rescue workers deserve our gratitude and support.
