Default Al Archie

Hey Al, Looks like a very nice Largemouth in WCI. Looks like you received a very good critique from a fellow that should know what he's talking about. It looked so real to me that I thought you had been fishing and sent in a picture of your catch. Good job Al.

Thanks, Bob, I had just sent a PM off to BobD thanking him for the opportunity to have that fish professionally evaluated. I had missed the markings behind the eye on my reference photos so that was a very good observation..I'll pay more attention to the photos next time. That and the note on the dorsal fin separation were both appreciated.

The only thing I disagreed with the critiqe was on the base. This might sound a bit wierd, but finding that base was the impetus for the whole carving. "Missing His Lunch" is the title, and I thought that separating the two elements on that base would lend validity to that.

A single oval base as suggested would have been great for a scene depicting a capture rather than an escape.

It was a good experience and I learned quite a bit from the evaluation.

Al

Hi Al, I just saw your fish in the magazine.. ! I said.. ( oh, somebody's copied Al's fish) grin.. then I saw your name.. Personaly, I like it on the two bases also.. The picture you posted had better color which did it more justice. Congradulations on getting it into the WCI... That's a beautiful carving.. Charlotte
