Default Young Coyote

Hi everyone,

I just finished this young coyote. I tried something different with the finish this time and I put a wood conditioner on before staining the edges and then waxing. The wood is basswood and I found that the conditioner really brought out the grain and added a golden hue to the wood itself. It also darkened the burning which wasn't something I wanted, but live and learn.

Thanks for looking.

Lindy

Hi Bart,

Thank you - it's interesting what happens when you try different techniques and finishes as to how the wood gets changed.

Fantastic little coyote, love the detail and the eyes jump out at you! Finish looks great, I've never tried a conditioner. Thanks for sharing.

Very good, you accomplished something rare, having the eyes piercing a hole in something over your right shoulder. Keep up the good work. I burned a black bear for my sister and she says it gives her the creeps, for it is looking at her no matter where she at in the room. Semper Fi

Hi Lindy, I really like your work on the coyote and the finish. You really captured that wild, wily, watchful look the coyote can give. Very nice!

Wow! Thank you for such kind words - I've really developed a love of getting the eyes to tell you who the animal really is and I'm so pleased to hear it's working!

Thanks again everyone for your support as I continue to learn new techniques and ideas.
