Gordy and Bob, I use a Colwood Cub woodburner for everything I need to burn. I've had it for around 20 years and it's still working like a charm. I have two fixed tip pens and one replacable tip pen with 6-8 different tips. I don't burn very hot and the adjustable setting lets you burn at whatever level you want--barely leaving mark to charing. The cub just has one pen connection--whereas the full sized Colwood has two pens. If I remember right, I use the "f" tip the most and I use it mostly when I'm carving birds and animals. I also use a shader and a writing tip--plus have a spear to get into tight spaces, but I suspect you're mostly wanting to outline letters and perhaps do a little shading?? Go to the Colwood website and, again, if I remember right, there's great tutorials on their website. Donna_T

Imagination is the name of the game. I use the cheapest little burning iron I can find at any of the Hobby Shop Stores. Have it wired into the controls of an electric blanket to get the right temperature desired. I make all my tips simply going to the hardware store and purchasing little thingies that will screw into the tip of the burning iron and filing them down to my satisfaction. Trial and error connected to your imagination works wonders...Semper Fi!!
