| | Re: Update on my latest burning Hi Nedra, your Curtis girl is coming along nicely, keep that softness going.
I also was drawn to the magic of this photographic portrait by Curtis. Back in the 70's I did a pastel of her. It was part of a class challenge to reproduce a well known artists work. Originally it was the face that fascinated me, but it ended up to be the robe and capturing the folds. Also, translating the sepia image into color. I still have this painting and it's hanging in my entry hall. At some point I think I'd like to try and base a carving on this image.
Looking forward to seeing your completed work. ![004[1]1](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/004[1]1.gif) New Year,

| | Re: Update on my latest burning Oh Kathy, you did a great job on her. I know what you mean when you talk about what fascinated you about a piece you're working on. Her eyes always captivated me from the moment I saw her and while the folds on the blanket surely were intriguing, her eyes remained my fascination.
You did a great job of converting the sepia tones to color. I hope you do try to do a carving of her. I look forward to seeing it....

| | Re: Update on my latest burning Hi Nedra, thank you for your nice compliment, you know it would be good for me to try a female face in wood. After all these Gargac santa's it's time to move on. LOL
Your Curtis girl has turned out really nice will you have it at the Mesa Show. I'd love to see it in person.

It seemed so ironic that both Nedra and I had been so moved by this Curtis Indian girl that we both created a piece of art using different mediums.

It is my intention to bring it to Mesa unless someone falls in love with it in Yuma
