| | Tea tray. Not often do you see these any more, but in the olden days, like when I was a kid, every little girl had one. My wife bought our Granddaughter Octavia a little porcelin tea set for her birthday and everyone in the house has been served tea several times already....Grandpa, Grammie, the dogs, the cats, all the teady bears, dolls and anything else she can get to sit still long enough. I noticed that it was hard for her to serve tea.....without a proper tea serving tray.....so I made her one. I used one of Susan's designs to decorate it. (Thanks Susan) The sides are Cherry and the base is Oak plywood. Ignore the gaps in the joints.....cause as a joiner I still suck .....but she'll enjoy it anyway. The burned image turned out pretty good, but I'm better at ships.....perhaps I should have burned in a sailor.....but she's a bit young for chasing sailors. Not like her Grandmother....yet!

| | Re: Tea tray. Wow grandpa your the best what a wonderful gift for your granddaughter. That is something that will be handed down from generation to generation. Bob you are like me I can carve all day but dont ask me to do home renovations or make anything I too suck at woodworking as well. Mind you I dont think you did a bad job on the tray.

| | Re: Tea tray. You are most certainly a diversified artist and well balanced... first there were ships, then walking sticks and dragons, and now you have taken us to the wonderful world of woodworking. That is some beautiful tray and something similar to what I made for a retired husband/wife team a few years ago who needed something for their "meals on wheels" program.
I too am a woodworker and I always look for ways to extend my work through woodcarving and/or woodburning. Such extensions simply make the piece of work so much more uniquely "yours" and that is what you have shown us here. I'm sure that your grand daughter is the luckiest little girl in the world! You're a good man Bob! |

| | Re: Tea tray. Bob, what a beautiful piece of work and what a lucky granddaughter. Your granddaughter will cherish this work from the heart forever. An heirloom you have created to pass from generation to generation of tea parties.
Wonderful, wonderful work!

| | Re: Tea tray. Bob- What a wonderful . Also a great job on the woodburning. Your grandaughter will cherish it forever. I never had any of my own kids to make things for but I have five brothers with lots of kids to spoil. I always enjoyed making wooden toys for them and now I make a few for their kids. I always will remember the look of joy on their faces. Again great job. |

| | Re: Tea tray. Bob,
You've created an heirloom, a family treasure! I hope she gives it to her daughter when she's this age! I'm sure her joy is the grandest reward you could ever ask for!
It's a very nice piece, but more than that, it's a joy-maker for one of the most precious people you will ever meet! I'm happy for her and you.
