Thumbs up Re: Redone A4 Skyhawk

Hi Lindy
Just saw this, I was in the navy when they used these bad boys. Did you know the Blue Angels used to fly them, mainly because the could fly upside down for longer periods of time. When they wanted me to reenlist, they offered me a spot with them, turned it down though.

Also I would like to beg to differ with Al, those could be fuel tanks, but generally they weren't mounted on the wings but on the fuselage.

Oh yah I really like your burning I checked out your website, you do a lot of great stuff.
Mel

Hi Mel,

Thank you! This plane was still in commission in 1991 and had been with the Lexington until it was decommissioned and Ted doesn't remember which carrier it was with next. He was one of the instructors and loved that plane. He just retired in July and is trying to figure out what to do with his life now since he already got to live his dream as a Navy pilot.

Mel, thank you for your kind words on my work. I've found I really enjoy burning and look forward o continuing to build my skills.

Hi Lindy
Well thanks for refreshing, I was around when the Lexington made its final cruise. I remember it had a wooded flight deck. It was the last carrier still in commission with a wooden flight deck.

Your welcome about your work. I didn't realize you did that much woodburning. You can tell you have developed a passion for it.

Mel, that ain't a "differ", it's a correction! And I'll take that humbly from one who knows those planes close up and personal.

Hi-Ho... You was on the Bonnie Dick? I paid her a visit in early 1964 to visit a boot camp buddy. I decided right then and there that carrier life was not for me. Give me a wooden cork anyday!
