Smile Peter Childs

I ran across a book of very professional wood burner. He did awesome work with wood burner called a "Peter Childs" I never have heard of it or seen it advertised. I went to their site and they sell for 130 or so. They say their overbuilt and no electronics to go bad. Has anyone had or know of anyone who's familiar with these units. He sure put out some nice work with it, (of coarse, if your really talented you can do it with a soldering iron I know) but I'm curious about this unknown (to me anyway) burning unit.

Thanks

I believe the Peter Childs burner is the one they use in England and Australia. It has the tips that are attached with screws and looks a bit awkward. I have also seen some beautiful work done with the solid point burners and even with the use of magnifying glasses... if you have the patience!

Actually, I just googled "Peter Childs" and the company has a site at www.peterchilds.co.us They carry a large line of woodworking tools.

Hi

I live in England and at present, thinking of buying it. It is a popular machine here. It is also on sale at £99.75 $153.06 without postage.

I work in a school in Scotland and the kids use them all the time. they are very robust and you can make tips to any shape you like using wire very easily.

I use the Peter child unit and can confirm it's a really good piece of kit. very well built, interchangeable tips that are easy to make and adapt yourself to any shape you want.
I'm not sure how the UK 240 volt would work in the USA though, whether an adapter would be needed or in fact if they produce a 110 volt unit. but for anyone living in UK i'd totally recomend it. i bought mine from here
Woodworks Craft Supplies
family run business and very friendly...and they will price match anyone
