Default new to group

hi,i just found this group. i was out looking for info. to try my hand at some wood carving.i did see one name i my know from another group. Nedra . right now i'm working as a engraver . i also do scrimshaw, glass carving and some pyro stuff.i'm hopeing to learn from all you.as much as i can about relief wood carving.and all i can about how you do your pyro work. oh and i'm from Hawaii. are there any other on this forum from my area? You do outstanding work! I have a paragrave and have done some glass engraving....was also in Hawaii (Oahu) probably before you were born lol.....1959....become they even had the monument over the Arizona...geez, getting old!

As an engraver ,and scrimshaw your 90 percent there for relief. You can use the same tools as your already use to , just different media. From there just learning shadowing and puting in undercuts. If you wish to use power tools for producing the carvings, if you looking at hand chisels well you will have fun learn how wood cuts. But welcome to the fourm.
