Default New burning

I just finished a burning of some bearded iris from my garden. I started it almost a year ago but just was having problems getting into it so I worked on other projects until the creative juices started flowing on this one.

These are three different iris's from that garden that I put together for this burning. I haven't come up with a title for it yet but hopefully will soon because I need to seal it and I like to put the title on the back.

Any suggestions on titles would greatly be appreciated.

BTW I got an email message a few weeks ago from someone in California who saw my golden eagle in chip chats and wanted to buy it. I was thrilled and he might be interested in a mate for the other side of his mantle so I've started work on a Red-Tailed Hawk (he collects birds of prey and wildlife art) just in case!!!! Even if he doesn't buy it, this is something I've wanted to do anyway.

Way to go Nedra. Beautifull burning.
We have Irises growing in our yard that were my mothers. When she past away in 1998 we dug quite a few up and transplanted them here. I baby them every spring and summer and also had to cull a few of them as my daughter wanted some and npw my Daughter in law.

Congratulations on selling your Eagle. That is another fantastic burning also. Won first place now sold. Super. Bet the Red Tail Hawk will be a beauty also.

Can't wait!! Ya got it done yet?

Hi Kenny,

I adore Iris and hope that we can establish another garden when we get into out new home.

I was very reluctant to sell that eagle. It was my first Best of Show and I set the price high figuring nobody would pay it and I'd get to keep it for a while....what a surprise, someone thought it was worth it!

Well done on the sale Nedra. That eagle was a beautiful piece of work and deserves a good home. I hope you share the hawk process with us as you go, we can learn much by your example.

As for the Iris's, sorry, I'm not much help for flower image naming, no imagination in that area. I'd just call 'em "Flowers".....or some such! Pretty though, a great burning.

Very nice! I love Irises and your detail is fabulous. Congrats on the sale of your eagle and I too would like to see your progress on the hawk.

Hi everyone, I will try to post my progress on the haw. I usually do my burning while on the road in our motorhome...well not exactly on the road but while we're away. It seems to be the only time I have time and can relax. Unfortunately some of the pieces I work on take months because I just don't have the time I used to due to work, travel, etc. I'll try my best to keep this one moving but can't promise it will be done quickly. It's going to be a fairly large and detailed piece!

I will take my digital camera and try to take photos as I work. I absolutely must get it sketched on the wood tonight or I'm never going to get started...

PS--Do you still teach? If so will you still be teaching when you move to NM? That will be a much closer drive for me than Washington. Please let me know here or woodburner--thanks.

Very nice Nedra, its even nicer knowing that those were flowers that you grew. Did you take a picture of them to use as a reference?
