Default In Memory

Hi,

Haven't posted in awhile, thought I'd show a project that I had just completed.

Last month we had to say good bye to our pet dog of 13 yrs due to failing health.

Here are a couple of pictures of what I made to give to my wife in memory of her Keeshond dog, "Meisha Marie".

Thanks for looking, Brian...

Thanks for sharing something that's so much more personal than a photograph and something that will most likely remain close in hand as a warm memory much longer too. Very detailed, full with life, and most certainly it will rekindle a spirit that continues to live through your excellent work.

Thank you again for sharing.

What a fitting memorial to your faithful companion. Nice job. I am sorry for your loss. 13 years is a long time and I am sure your memorial will being back fond memories any time you look at it in the future.Bob

Losing a pet of so many years is losing a member of the family. Over time our sorrow heals but little things brings back the memories of them. I am sure each time you look at the picture , many happy memories will return.

Well done Brian.

Brian, the Keeshond is just perfect. You could not have captured the slant of the stop and muzzel more perfectly. The ear peak is right on. And the second photo you have shared makes your Meisha Marie look 3-D from the wood background because of the excellent shading. Beautiful work.

I do believe that taking the time to draw, paint, burn or carve our beloved pets helps with the pain of losing them. Many yers ago Mike and I lost a lab that had graced our home and our lives for 13 years. Not long after that I did a painting og him called "Veteran's Memories". He's all gray muzzeled and tired looking except for hisbright young eyes ... just the way I remember still today.

Beatiful!

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments.

Susan,
I was surprized myself that it turned out as well as it did. I had never burned curly maple before and just jumped right in, figuring I'll let the chips fall where they may, so to speak.

I recently started taking a drawing course at the local com. college and have found that with just a few sessions that I'm able to turn off the left side of my thinker and I'm starting to really see what I'm actually looking at.

Brian...

Oh Brian, your beautiful portrait of a beloved pal tugs at my heart strings. What a lovely touching way to immortalize a very special family member. We all who have had to say good by to a cherished pet know your pain and that of your wife. You created a wonderful memory tribute from the heart.

Brian? That's with just a FEW drawing classes ... whoa ... what will you be doing a couple of months or even years from now. Stick with it Brian, you definitely have art talent.
