Default Makin' the Mojo Stick

:

With my recent aquisition of some nice silver maple, I think I'm gonna start making some walking sticks that people in the area will gladly spend money on.

I plan to make the basic stick, power carve and burn on it, and using the larger, blocky leftover pieces, roughly carve out some old school, comical voodoo skulls to mount on top like the knob usually seen on "pimp sticks," etc.

I thought I'd use small dowels and wood glue to "pin" the two pieces together with the main joint attached using some sort of 2-part epoxy.

The question is, from your collective experience, will the budget-minded, standard 5 minute clear epoxy brands hold a clean butt joint on wood, or do I absolutely HAVE to invest in something more exotic than that?

Thanx in advance,
Jim

I think Hi Ho Sliver is correct. Use a dowel to "pin" it. Tom H

I just use Yellow Carpenters glue, I don't find a need for epoxy. Never had a joint fail yet!
