Default Introduction and question

Hi there,
My name is Ari and I am brand new to pyrography. I've been collecting information and ideas on how to start this new adventure. I have ordered a new burner and I've been buying the supplies needed to start burning. The reason why I want to start burning is because I appreciate the beauty and art that is involved in each of the pieces that I've seen from some members here and I want, at some point, to be able to do the same. I know that it requires practice and commitment but I have no problem with that, I'll be patient. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions once I get my knees deep in the water and don't know how to proceed. I'm looking forward to this new journey and I know that it will be rewarding.
Also, I've seen somewhere else that there was a pyrographer lady, the late Lynda Eaves, who used to sell a DVD set where she taught techniques on pyrography. Does anybody know who took over that? Where could I buy Lynda's DVD set now? or if anybody has it and is interested in selling I would be interested in buying.

Thanks,

Welcome aboard! I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we look forward to getting to know you and helping you progress. Another really good site with on-line tutorials is Susan (Lora Irish) aka Irish at www.carvingpatterns.com. Susan also has some exceptional books available to teach you how to burn, what each pen can do as far as versatility as well as wonderful patterns.

Hi Ari,

First of all I would also like to say welcome. You can emaill Allen her husband at artendures@yahoo.com and request the DVD set. It is also on my wish list maybe Santa will bring it for Christmas. Hope I've been a good girl.

Eddy and Lindy also gave you some very good suggestions for resources available. You should really check them out they have some fantastic helps for anyone but especially beginners.

Look forward to seeing your work. Good luck and have fun! Happy burning and learning!

Blessings,
Tina

Hi Ari, welcome to the group. Tina already supplied you with Lynda's hubby's email address and if he is still producing the DVD's that is the best way to get in touch with him. I know it was his intention to do that. You can also check out my tutorials that might help out a bit to get you started. I don't have any DVD's and don't intend on doing any but if DVD's is what you are looking for Sue Walters is also supposed to be putting out some but I don't know when. I believe, like Lynda's they are step-by-step individual projects.

Wow! I'm impressed with your willingness to help a newbie. I really feel welcome here and hope that sometime I can contribute in a meaningful way to this group. At this point I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible. I've bought a couple of books and read some info on the internet and I'll see if I can get a hold of this DVD set from Allen. Thanks again and you'll hear from me hopefully in a near future.

We all started somewhere and most of us who have been burning a while are always willing to help a newcomer. I look forward to seeing some of your work when you get started. I'm sure it won't be too long before you're feeling right at home.
