Default I'm new

Hi all,

I am fairly new to pyrograhpy. I have only been doing it for the past couple years. I have been doing mostly superheros. Links below are pictures of some of what I have done so far.

The first thing is... is my work any good? I mean I show them to friends and family and of course they think they are great but they don't really know. So what crosses my mind is what do people who have been doing it for years think?

I have also been told I should do peoples portraits. How do I go from a pictrue to something I can use to transfer onto the wood? I have been playing around with GIMP 2.6(poor man's photo shop) I can kinda get the picture to go into line art but it doesn't look all that great. If anyone can help me on that it would be great!

you're off to a good start. Doing portraits is fairly advanced so perhaps practicing shading would b e good before venturing in that direction. I also caution you about using trademarked/copyrighted "patterns".

Sorry, I can't give u more help right now I had surgery on my dominant hand and in a cast.

If you're doing those copyrighted pictures for your own pleasure and collection then there really shouldn't be a problem but if you decide to start selling them, then you very well may have a problem. I wouldn't be advertising and asking for a critique on the internet. Corporations having ownership have been known to come down hard on even the most innocent use of their copyrighted figures.

As far as shifting your emphasis to portraits, have your tried the program Irfanview?
