Default Here's what I've been working on

Hi Ya All,

This is what I have been working on. It has been a lot of fun but I am glad it is finished. It is for a project on another board, a quilt. Thanks for letting me share.

Blessings,
Tina

Hi Tina, thank you, for sharing your quilt and nice work! I was wondering as I have not created a quilt before. How do you mount the quilt tiles? Backing? Gluing? Finial display is wall hung? Interesting project.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, I cherish and appreciate each one.

Mottles, Kathy, I am going to do something very similar for my quilt as the one in the Relief section that Tom shared. I was fortunate enough to be able to see that one in person at the Mansfield show. It is beautiful. I like the easel display but mine will be a wall hanging. We also have a wall hanging in our clubhouse where each member contributed a square. It is a combination of carving and wood burning.

My frame will be a little different it will have wider strips in the frame between the square because I will be chip carving my frame to mimic the old fashioned fabric quilt. Mine will be like a 12 patch quilt.

This will take quite some time though because I just took my first introductory class in chip carving. So needless to say I will be doing lots of practice before I attempt it.

I'm also doing one for my Mom for Christmas which will be much different. It will be reversible. One side will be left natural, the sepia tones and the other will be coloured with oil or watercolour pencils. It will be done in all butterfly motifs.

How I'm going to display this one is I'm adjoining the squares with jewelry jump rings with wood beads and pearls. It will be hung on a curtain rod with butterfly finials. She doesn't have a door on her room so it will hang in the doorway of her room.

The other participants in the quilt had several good ideas also. Some are just making frames too, some are putting them in different table tops. One of them made two towers to represent the twin towers and is mounted on a swivel base so that it spins, revolves around. He has been in the quilt several years so he has I think he said about fifty squares.

If anyone has any interesting ideas to display them don,t hesitate to share them. I'm always looking for new ways to display them. They are my favorite to do and are my best sellers at shows.

Susan, I would like to say a special thank you to you. Although I love all your books, I especially like your recent book the tattoo book. I'm sure you recognised quite a few of the designs on my squares. They work so perfectly for these squares. I have a lot of plans for several more. So this is fair warning for more to come.

Well sorry for the long winded post and thanks again everyone! Till next time...

Blessings,
Tina

Well Tina, you have covered things well ! Most of the quilt members I know have hung them but one fellow placed them on a coffee table and poured a thick polyurethane over them. Personality I don't like to use those finishes on wood, but it did look nice. Others have grouped quilt squares do make for great "curtains" and wall hangings.

Me, I just store them in a box

Looking good there teeburn, keep the good work up and thanks for sharing. I had to come back and take a gander at the burns again Tee. How big are the burns? Never have seen a "quilt". Kinda reminds me of the panels inside my traveling road show. Thanks!
