Hi Tina!
Oh my...you have improved so much since I last saw a burning from you!!
Mottles, Kathy, I am going to do something very similar for my quilt as the one in the Relief section that Tom shared. I was fortunate enough to be able to see that one in person at the Mansfield show. It is beautiful. I like the easel display but mine will be a wall hanging. We also have a wall hanging in our clubhouse where each member contributed a square. It is a combination of carving and wood burning.
Sounds like a wonderful idea. Yes, the one at the Mansfield show was beautiful.
My frame will be a little different it will have wider strips in the frame between the square because I will be chip carving my frame to mimic the old fashioned fabric quilt. Mine will be like a 12 patch quilt.
This will take quite some time though because I just took my first introductory class in chip carving. So needless to say I will be doing lots of practice before I attempt it.
You have such good ideas...very ambitious for someone just starting out. Yes, practice makes perfect.
I'm also doing one for my Mom for Christmas which will be much different. It will be reversible. One side will be left natural, the sepia tones and the other will be coloured with oil or watercolour pencils. It will be done in all butterfly motifs.
As soon as I saw you were going to do one for you mom, I just knew it was going to be all butterflies. :-)) She will love it!
How I'm going to display this one is I'm adjoining the squares with jewelry jump rings with wood beads and pearls. It will be hung on a curtain rod with butterfly finials. She doesn't have a door on her room so it will hang in the doorway of her room.
What a great idea!! You must show us all pictures when you get it done.
The other participants in the quilt had several good ideas also. Some are just making frames too, some are putting them in different table tops. One of them made two towers to represent the twin towers and is mounted on a swivel base so that it spins, revolves around. He has been in the quilt several years so he has I think he said about fifty squares.
I've seen the towers with the swivel base...that is also a great way to display them. My husband builds frames for my 4 x 4's...and I display them with a miniature easel.
If anyone has any interesting ideas to display them don,t hesitate to share them. I'm always looking for new ways to display them. They are my favorite to do and are my best sellers at shows.
Susan, I would like to say a special thank you to you. Although I love all your books, I especially like your recent book the tattoo book. I'm sure you recognised quite a few of the designs on my squares. They work so perfectly for these squares. I have a lot of plans for several more. So this is fair warning for more to come.

Well sorry for the long winded post and thanks again everyone! Till next time...
It was nice seeing you at the Mansfield show ...you said you would send me the times and dates of your shows coming up...don't forget! "Keep burning and learning ™".... Danette Smith
