gina,

hello and welcome to the board, i am not much of a woodburner, but a couple of ideas come to mind, what about different animal footprints have seen these on sticks before and they look good, also flowers or different leaf patterns may look good also, i am sure there will be a flood of ideas from the others, we have a talented bunch of folks here,

Hi Gina and welcome take a look at www.carvingpatterns.com this site is chalked full of patterns that might fit your need. Susan Irish (Lora) is also contributes to this site and is a fine artist carver. Her site is very interesting and full of carving and burning tips and patterns for all levels.

How about getting some books on petroglyphs? They make great designs on sticks!

Hello Gina and welcome! There are a lot of different things you can put on your walking sticks. Bart's idea of paw prints is a really good one that I've used on my talking sticks (smaller version of a walking stick) as well as doing feathers, leaves, and berries. Kathy makes a really good suggestion of looking at Susan's site as she has some wonderful patterns and tutorials as well as some free patterns.

We would love to see some of your work and help you progress so please post some pictures!

Regards,
Lindy
