| | Re: Gourd Seed Exchange Goody, your Anna's gourd work is wonderful how long has she been gourding? Sounds like you get to do the dirty work cutting tops, seeding etc...tee hee. I love seeing what she did with the apple and pear gourds. Thank you for sharing--please tell Anna how much I enjoyed seeing her work.
I don't need any seeds at present but other's might....Ask Anna if she would like some coyote gourd seed? If she does just send me a WCI PM or email me mktrobbins@aol.com
Kathy Note: Goody the coyote gourds are about the size of a tennis ball and make terrific Christmas ornaments. They paint up really nice, you do have to be careful when burning a design as the shell is very, very, thin. You can use a tiny picture hanger eye screw for the top for hanging. I have seen some that copper wire is threaded from the bottom though the top and artfully twisted for a hanger. I haven't actually done either but plan to try the eye screw technique.

| | Re: Gourd Seed Exchange Susan, Karen (Mrs. Hi_Ho), Colin and Donna: Your seeds are packaged and ready for mailing on Wed. 9-28...I'll be cutting the pear gourd, dipper and a canteen gourd within a few weeks. I recently saw a western style gourd purse with leather weaving and tooled leather strap--they used a silver concho for the closure (hinges for the back). Really cool! Hope you enjoy your seeds in the spring. Kathy

Thanks for the seeds! I can't wait for spring...now if we could just skip winter!
You're so sweet to share--both seeds and hints and motivation.

| | Re: Gourd Seed Exchange Donna T & Dave you are most welcome. Dave sorry I don't know someone around here who's growing the jewelry gourds. If I should come across someone I'll get you some seeds. In our gourding club there are three people who grow various types and bring them to the monthly meeting to sell. One of them is growing evils claw and will be bringing some to the meeting. They make really cool top piece decoration for gourds. The native Americans used them for basket weaving--they stored them in a unique way by interlocking them to form a ball. Then when they were ready to work with them they'd just pull them off one by one. Didn't know you were going to get a history lesson today did ya! tee hee

| | Re: Gourd Seed Exchange I'm sure my wife would love to try her hand at some of the seeds. I'm not sure how they will grown in Tennessee, but everything else grows pretty good around here. Thanks for providing the seeds!
