| | Re: does anyone order their wood online?from who? I used to sell basswood boxes that were very good quality. They are no longer selling direct to retail customers but their distributor for retail sales is Viking Woodcrafts. Here is a link to them http://www.vikingwoodcrafts.com
They carry a lot of unfinished wood products besides the ones from the company I bought from. You will have to go through their website and look closely. Some are not basswood but they are marked. The boxes were always good and suitable for carving and burning but their plates were not good.

| | Re: does anyone order their wood online?from who? Bob, is the price comparible to getting basswood shipped from East Coast Specialty Hardwoods out of Dartmouth? Keith, my mentor, gets his wood shipped out of Quebec and he is very happy with the price. Rather than take up Donna's thread, feel free to send me a PM.
This posting is a good question as I live in Eastern Canada and have only dealt with one distributer but have never had wood shipped to my home.

| | Re: does anyone order their wood online?from who? I have not used it myself so I cannot say what the quality is but I know a few people have used this site for boxes, boxesnsuch.com. I haven't heard any complaints but as I said can't verify because I haven't used them personally.
Wouldn't hurt to at least take a peak at their site. |

| | Re: does anyone order their wood online?from who? I got some samples from them and found their quality was so-so. They come unassembled and the wood is thinner than most basswood boxes we've used and/or sold. We found that some of the wood was warped and some pieces didn't fit well together. The basswood did not appear to be winter cut. My husband has a great workshop and tried to make them work but said it wasn't worth it so we just tossed them.
We found the other supplier of basswood boxes to have much better quality. Solid, thick basswood. No warping. Clear, white, winter-cut basswood. All put together and reasonably priced for the quality.
