Default Chief Joseph in a new frame

I really hated the frame I had for the Chief Joseph burning. I was in a hurry because I was going to a show and I was still on crutches from foot surgery and no patience. So, I settled. Won't ever do that again and don't recommend it. A frame can make or break art work and it certainly did that with this burning.

The photo on the left is the new frame and the one on the right is the old frame. The one on the left was also taken with my new camera which I'm now using to get some great new reference photos for future burnings . Took a class this weekend on how to use this new camera and also bought my self a portable light studio which I used today to take some still life photos. What fun!!!!

Now THAT is a FRAME!! Wow! That really sets him off, Nedra. Where did you ever find that gorgeous thing? It's absolutely perfect for the Chief....which, in my humble opinion, is the most incredible woodburning I've ever seen. Wonderful choice in frames....Bonnie

Bonnie, that frame and the one I put on my latest burning were both found at local frame shops. I had each one done at a different shop just to try them out. Turns out both frames are from the same company. The first one I got was perfect for her but too dark for the Chief so I needed to find something else. The first place didn't have anything I liked for the Chief so after picking through dozens of samples at the other one we found this and it was perfect. What I liked is that they slope in toward the burning which draws the eye to it instead of away from it and they are both solid wood, not laminates. I'm sure that some framing shops near you would have something similar. Just ask them to look at the ones that slope in and see what they come up with.

If you look at the posting I did on my latest burning you can see that frame. It's similar to this but darker. Update on my latest burning

If you can't find good frames and are interested in the names of the companies for your frame shop let me know and I'll ask my framer. It's really a challenge to find just the right frame. What looks good on one may not be suitable for another. I'm heading to Mesa shortly and will be back next week. If you need the info please email me at: info@nedradenison.com

Nedra,
Wow! I got to visit the Mesa show today and got to see your work including Chief Joseph. My wife and I just could not get over how great your work really is, pictures simply cannot do it justice. What a talent!

Hi Keith, just winding down and saw your message. It was so fantastic getting to meet so many friends from here and other groups. That's what I love about participating in the shows around the country. It always such a pleasure meeting old and new friends and Im so glad you were both able to get to the show. It was our first time in Mesa but not our last. Talking

I am thrilled that you and your wife enjoyed seeing my work. As you probably guessed, I kinda like what I do. It truely is a blessing to have found something so fulfilling to do with my time. Keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. Wink
