Default cedar plaque

I had a gentleman who supplies me with red cedar for my wood carving ask if I would make a sign out of wood taken from his ranch.
The brand and the outlines for the letters were burned with a home made pyrography pen and letters were filled with gold water color.

Very nice. I sure hope you use some safety protection when burning and sanding Red Cedar.

It is a small one (20"). I shaped it with and angle grider and sand by hand with the foam backed stuff. It was already starting to split as I was doing the finish sand, so I gave it a coat of DEFT before I did the burning and painting. Not really ideal condition for wood burning. It's harder to control the tip and difficult to cleanup strays afterward

OK, Now you gone and done it. I looked up the plans for a box and pulled some cedar (the plain stuff) out of my shed. I think the red cedar is still to green

That must have taken quite awhile. That type style is pretty complicated and so perfectly spaced! Good job.

Thankyou all,
Thor, I used one of the fonts in paint, selecting a size that would fit on the plaque then stretching it to suit me. I used a compas point to "ponce" the outlines and filled with talc to make it stand out for burning. About 45 minutes for design and layout in all

Nice job! What did you put on it for the final finish?
