Hi Gina,

I use 2 types of paper depending on what I want to do, one is watercolour paper and the other is smooth bristol. Both are over 100 lbs and you need that kind weight to keep from burning though.

The other thing you need to know is that you are going to be burning at a far higher temperature than you do wood, strange as that sounds.

What type of picture are you going to do? Please post progress pictures as we all love to see it come together!

Lindy

Hi Gina!
I use Strathmore Watercolor paper, cold press (this is slightly bumpy on the surface on one side and a little smoother on the other side)...it's weight is 140#. Hot press is very smooth. I did a dragon on this paper. I got it at Michaels craft store. Hope this helps.."Keep burning and learning"...Danette
