It only took me one time to try burning and really like it. However it took me a few years to where I did decent work and learned decent shading The first time I tried leather it didn't go very well, but after a few attempts I got to where I liked it.

Susan's patterns are really good to use for burning I have seen some great results from them.

There are several free programs to reduce the size of your image files, if you don't have one. Using a PC?

Pat - very nice job! I love the look of the frame you used as well! I look forward to seeing more of your work as well.

I've found with the leather that I don't really mind the smell of the leather burning - I tend to use the lowest temperature that I can to get what I'm looking for. I really enjoy trying different substrates for burning and I really haven't found one I don't like - I guess that's the addiction talking!

thank you all so much, Pat
I know I emailed you some info but if you still can find it let me know. The owner of Saral does not respond to emails (not sure why he even bothers posting an email address on his site ) so you would have to call him.

He also does not sell direct to retail customers or dealers but he might be able to refer you to a dealer in the UK. If you can't find one please let me know. I do sell it but it certainly would be cheaper if you could find a local dealer.

Suzan the stylus should work better, or a fine point ball point pen. You want to have your leather a little damp when your are transferring your pattern. It will show up just fine when it's dry. Skip
