It's so nice that pyrography is finally being more accepted and many woodcarving shows have categories for woodburning. When I first started I was stuck in "miscellaneous" and competing with totally unrelated things.

I think that every time we win blue ribbons, best of whatever, it's actually won by every pyrographer because it's opening up more doors and making people more aware of this wonderful art form. It's not just drawing lines of stick people anymore and I'm amazed at the numbers of people who come over to me at shows while I'm burning and are amazed at what you can do with a woodburner.

One of these days I'll get my retirement worked out and get that pyrography festival going so we can compete against other pyrographers.

Congratulations on some fine work, the remarkable thing about the eagle is it's depth, marvelous job and well deserved awards!

Us woodcarvers don't mind pyro's, we're just afraid y'all might get board and want to try and brand us!! (LOL!)

thanks Tony, that's exactly what the judges said...besides the fact that they thought the eyes were following them............

Now I hadn't thought about the branding business but it certainly sounds like something to consider!!!!

I'm now working with a torch as well as a woodburner, perhaps I'll start with the torch...y'all!
