Default As basic as it come

Hi folks. I have had a pyrography set for about 20 years or so but all I have ever done with in is to put my name on woodturnings, putting my celtic trinity knot unto canoe paddles I make or burning hair into carvings.

As I want to make more and more fancy canoe paddles I would really love to be able to do some basic work like beavers, otters, bears and so on. I am not the most artistic person in terms of drawing so I alway (to date) use carbin paper to transfer my simple trinity knot.

Can anyone advise or direct how to progress with this lovely skill. I love slightly abstract stuff rather than very find detailed work.

Kind Regards.

Here's one source you might want to try.. Wildlife Patterns; Wood Burning, Painting, Crafts...

http://www.aokcorral.com/projects/how2aug2009.htm
Or....Just do a search for wildlife patterns.

Thanks Al. I think I could manage those. If you have any of beavers I would really appreciate those. I know I live in N. Ireland but I love wood and water and a friend said I reminded him of a beaver. So I have developed a whole coaching idea on that. Anyway I appreciate your reply.

BD, here's another site with all kinds of beaver pictures. Click on the thumbnails and full sized pics are available.

Hey BD,

Don't know if it is an issue for you yet but carbon paper may gum up your burner. You can make your own graphite paper if that ever becomes an issue.

I like the idea of beavers. Have not seen too many of those yet.

Rick

Never thought of that Rick. So far not a problem but then I haven't done a large project. I use the stuff you put between 2 sheet of paper to get a copy.
