Default Apologize for absence

I have gotten some email messages asking me why I've been so silent. I've been very busy with new book, shows, classes and "stuff" but just when I was beginning to get my head above water and back on schedule I fractured my wrist and of course it is my dominant hand.

So, now not only am I in a cast trying to type but I am again way behind schedule on book and burnings....not to mention trying to figure out how to do a gourd show next week, a woodcarving show in Wichita in 2 weeks and a demo at the art league in 3 weeks....arg!

My friend Orchid gave me the 'ole pep talk yesterday about practicing burning with my left hand so I will be ambidextrous. I'm working on it but I don't see me becoming proficient at it until I don't need to any more.

So, one of these days I might even have something to post again. Just not sure when. I have a burning that I started several months ago and one I almost started but that's about it. Nothing to show for myself for a while I'm afraid.

Retirement is not for the weak

Nedra...I, for one, have missed your posts and your burnings for some time.....not been on here regularly myself, as life has gotten in the way. Knew you were very busy, but didn't know you broke your wrist! What a bummer! Sure hope you heal quickly.....I know there are no dust bunnies under your feet when it comes to keeping busy! Hope you can solve your problems in a short time, and I will longingly be looking forward to a new burning from you! Sincerely..Bonnie

Thanks everyone. Minimum 6 weeks in cast and then xrays again. If all goes well the cast comes off but still have to take it easy for a few more weeks BUT I can probably start burning again.

Kenny, I will be there with bells (oops I mean cast) on! Please stop by and say high. It's wonderful getting to meet people from the groups when we go to the shows. We had a blast in Mesa with all the people stopping by who I knew from here and other groups. I look forward to seeing you

Nedra, so sorry to hear you injured your wrist, that is to bad. These things always seem to happen when we need accidents the least.
Good to hear from you, and I hope your wrist gets better. Been in a few casts myself so I know from where you speak.
It was nice to meet you at the Mesa show!
Take care,
Kathy

Murphy's Law

Oh well, I'm still smiling

I'm going to be practicing burning with my left hand tomorrow. It should be very interesting!

Sorry to hear about your injury, I hope it heals sooner than mine is! It's been four months with no healing, still in a cast and still fighting the clots. It'll be another 2 months before they're willing to operate due to the clots and other stuff.

But the good news for me is I can still burn, let us know how you make out as a leftie!

Lindy I'm so sorry to hear about all your problems. At least I have an end in sight. Not sure I could go through what you are without going a bit bonkers. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed that you have a speedy recovery.

I am working on my left hand to see if I can burn half way decent. Perhaps by the time the cast comes off I'll have it down. As Orchid Davis reminded me the other day...it's all in my head so I just have to train my fingers to work enough to do what my brain tells them to do.

I did have some exciting news today that will help make up for 6 weeks of doing practically nothing. A reporter from the newspaper is interviewing me next week for the newspaper. I was thrilled to say the least. She's meeting me over at the gallery where I have some of my pieces so she can take some photos. So, I guess when you think things are at their darkest there is a bright side.

Here's to a speedy recovery for both of us.

Nedra

Sorry to hear of all the mishaps to a good bunch of pyrographers. Hope everyone will mend and be better than before. I think it benifited my pyro laying up those couple of years. Have fun at the show Nedra! Hollis
